Photography FAQs

Where are you located & will you travel?

I'm based out of Bakersfield California, but YES I travel all over California and beyond! Travel fees do apply to locations outside Bakersfield.

How far in advance do I need to book my photoshoot?

I often book 3-6 months in advance, but do my best to accommodate immediate needs. Please feel free to contact me for availability.

How should I prepare my horse?

Above all else I encourage my riders to make sure their horse is familiar with the shoot location and have a very good lead around or ride before they start getting their horse cleaned up! Do whatever show preparation you would typically do on your horse for a big competition; groomed, clipped, hoof polish etc. Avoid excessive oil and show sheen so the oil won't get on your clothes while cuddling your horse and you don't fall off if you go bareback! Tack is completely optional, but I always encourage a clean bridle or leather halter!

I don't think my barn is pretty enough - help!

About 95% of my Horse + Rider shoots are located where the horse is boarded as it is where they are most comfortable. We want the most stress free environment for your horse so everyone is relaxed and calm during your session! You'd be surprised what beauty I can find at a barn or even on the nearby trails. However, you are welcome at White Star Ranch, and I do have great spots all over Bakersfield to haul into, should you be worried about the backdrop.

What do I wear for the photoshoot?

I know the struggle, trust me! It’s important to keep things like the weather, personal features, and your horse's color in mind when choosing your outfits. More than anything, choose clothes that reflect your own personal style and that you are comfortable in.

Can I still get blackout images if I book the Horse & Rider Package?

Absolutely! I will shoot your
horse's portrait session before we start your Horse + Rider session.

How will you send me my photographs?

You will receive an email with
a link to your online gallery where you can download your digital files.

How do I pay you?

At the time of booking, you will be given access to the client portal where you will be able to pay your $100 deposit and sign your contract. This retainer secures your photoshoot date. The remaining balance is due at time of session. I accept all forms of payment so feel free to use what is most convenient for you!
